Waititu ordered to present himself at KNH after case hits a snag, again

Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has been ordered to present himself at the Kenyatta National Hospital for medical examination.

The trial magistrate further directed the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (KMPDB) to appoint a team of three doctors who will examine Waititu.

This after the court was told Waititu tested positive for COVID-19 and later admitted to a hospital facility in Huruma thereby causing the adjournment of his corruption case.

According to the prosecution, a medical examination for Waititu will not infringe on his rights to privacy as alleged by his lawyer John Sakwa.

A sealed report of the medical exam is to be presented in court within seven days.

The court has also ordered that Waititu avail himself in court for the trial.

Waititu was charged with six counts linked to a Ksh. 580million irregular tender.

He was accused of conflict of interest and dealing with suspect property.

His wife Susan Wangari Ndung’u and eight others were also charged following a recommendation by Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji.

The accused denied the charges and were released on bail.
