Uhuru offers Gaucho lunch as he thanks youth who showed up at Jubilee HQ amid chaos
Former
President Uhuru Kenyatta has thanked the dozens of youth who showed up at the former Jubilee Party headquarters in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, on April 26 amid wrangles in
the party.
Kenyatta
turned up outside the offices after the chaos was witnessed following a clash between supporters of acting secretary
general Kanini Kega and suspended secretary general Jeremiah Kioni.
There was pelting of stones that ended with a heavy police
deployment, who lobbed teargas to disperse the supporters.
Self-proclaimed Bunge la Mwananchi president Calvince Okoth alias
Gaucho was among the youth who accompanied Kenyatta as he arrived to quell the
chaos.
During Monday’s National Delegates
Conference (NDC) at the Ngong Racecourse in Nairobi, Uhuru praised the
youth for turning up to defend their party and stand against what he described
as injustice.
“I
was not aware our office had been raided but even though I was alone I had to
go and defend the property of my people. Some youths showed up to defend their
party and resist the injustice that was taking place,” he said.
He
even offered to buy Gaucho lunch after photos of him and the popular Azimio La
Umoja supporter excited Kenyans online, saying, “I am thankful to them and that
Gaucho they have been talking about, if I see him again I will buy you lunch,
don’t worry.”
“Police were called and refused to come so these young people had to do what they had to do and God bless them and may they keep up the strong work.”

Kenyatta
at the same time lashed out at what appeared to be goons who attacked his
family’s Northlands farm in Kiambu in March.
The unknown people
invaded the Kenyatta land along the Nairobi Eastern Bypass, cut down trees and made away with sheep.
The former president said: “Those who have been doing whatever they are doing thinking God sleeps, God doesn’t sleep and one day they will face it.”
“Myself
and my family we appreciate the much you have done. And I believe that justice
will, and must eventually prevail, be it in a year or two years, justice will
prevail because God is alive and doesn’t sleep.”
Uhuru
convened Monday’s meeting to review,
formulate and approve party policies; receive a status report from the National
Executive Committee and consider and approve any other matters.
