Uhuru appoints ex-Defence VC Franklin Mghalu Chair of Kenya National Shipping Line Board
President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed former
Vice Chief of Defence Franklin Mghalu as the Chairperson of the Kenya National
Shipping Line Board.
According
to a Gazette notice dated August 5, 2022, Mghalu will hold the position for a
period of three years after assuming office.
“In
exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 (1) (a) of the state corporations
Act, I, Uhuru Kenyatta, President and Commander-in-Chief of the defence forces,
appoint Lt Gen (RTD) Levi Franklin Mghalu to be the chairperson of the board of
directors of the Kenya National Shipping Line, for a period of three years,
with effect from the 5th August 2022” read the notice.
Lieutenant
General Mghalu had previously served as the commander of the Kenya Navy before
his promotion to the Vice Chief of Defence Forces in May 2020 by President
Kenyatta.
The
61-year-old retired from service in 2021.
