Professionals and elites from Ugunja sub-county have been challenged to develop their village schools to enhance academic performance across the region.
Ugunja politician Joseph Otieno Alur says that there is no way the village schools will grow if the professionals don’t come home to develop them.
He stated that the only way through which they can give back to the society is by supporting the schools that helped to mold them to become who they are today.
Mr Alur stated that by giving such support, the professionals and elites would also act as role models to the younger generation and encourage them to work hard, hence improving the region’s academic standards.
He made the remarks during a fundraising at Madungu Mixed Secondary School in Sigomere Ward where he pleaded with the constituents to embrace one another during this electioneering campaign period.
Mr Alur, who has since declared interest in the Ugunja parliamentary seat, says that the constituents should embrace a peaceful and harmonious coexistence irrespective of their political affiliations.
He warned them against playing divisive politics, noting that the only way to deal with the leaders that they do not want is to vote them out during the next General Election.
