Uganda royal wedding to take place today

William Gabula Nadiope IV, the ruling Kyabazinga of Uganda's Busoga kingdom, will on Saturday, November 18, wed Ms. Jovia Mutesi in a ceremony that will span two hours.

Dr. Joseph Muvawala, the Prime Minister (Katuukiro) of the Busoga Kingdom, on Wednesday disclosed that the ceremony will take place at Christ's Church Bugembe in Jinja City from 11 am to 1pm.

Muvawala has urged guests to arrive for the ceremony between 8:30 am and 9 am to avoid any delays.

Over 2,500 guests are expected to attend the event, key among them Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni, who will serve as the chief celebrant.

Male attendees have been requested to wear suits with bowties, while female guests are expected to be clad in ball dresses.

Muvawala added that access to Igenge Palace for the reception is restricted to invited guests only, facilitated by invitation cards containing a metallic strip for scanning to access details such as seating arrangements and tables.

"The king will arrive at Bugembe Cathedral from Kamuli District at 10:45 am, while the bride will arrive later from Mayuge District. Guests will start arriving at 8:30 pm because the wedding will only take two hours," Dr. Muvawala is quoted as saying by the Monitor.

Following the wedding, the Kyabazinga and his bride will embark on a procession through Jinja City to greet their subjects.
