Two bodies retrieved after students drown in Athi River
Divers have retrieved one more body of a Form One student who drowned alongside three others in Athi River.
The four students from Syokisinga Mixed Secondary School drowned during a class tour on Friday.
“One body was retrieved yesterday and another today (Saturday),” Stephen Kitungu, the Yatta Sub County Education Director told Citizen Digital.
According to him, the three boys and one girl who were on a Geography Class trip when the incident occurred.

He could not substantiate claims that they had gone swimming as other reports emerged that they tripped and fell into River Athi.
Investigations have been launched to establish what led to the drowning.
Kitungu also noted that the search for the other two bodies is ongoing with senior education officers from Machakos County also on the ground.
