According to a gazette notice dated October 23 by Ministry of Investments, Trade, and Industry Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano, one of the zones will be established in Murang'a on a 500-acre plot of land.
Another zone will be established on a 2-hectare plot of land in Mtwapa, Kilifi County.
Moses Kuria, the then Cabinet Secretary for Investment, Trade, and Industry, declared two new Export Processing Zones in the country in April of this year.
The first zone, which is approximately 135 hectares in size, is located in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, while the second zone, which is approximately 341.2 hectares in size, is located in Bukhayo, Busia County.
At the moment there are currently over 40 gazetted zones in Nairobi, Voi, Athi River, Kerio Valley, Mombasa, and Kilifi in various stages of development by both private and public zone developers and operators.
The Export Processing Zone Authority manages and promotes these zones.
They are tasked with promoting and facilitating export-oriented investments, as well as creating an enabling environment for such investments.
