Worship services came to an abrupt halt as a group of furious young men and women stormed the church, pelting stones, smashing worship instruments, and vandalizing property.
The air, once filled with hymns, now echoed with anger, leaving behind a trail of wreckage and unanswered questions.
The group, identifying themselves as the “TikTok High Court,” accused the pastor of assaulting young boys and even fellow pastors. “Please, bad pastors should stop hiding in churches,” said David James, one of the protesters.
Jacquiline Jaycee, another protester, explained the group’s frustration. “We came and missed him. We found the church members and explained what is going on. We are here to ensure justice and make sure this behavior does not continue in churches.”
As tensions escalated, angry protesters clashed with police, forcing officers to fire tear gas as the mob ran riot, vandalizing church property. Most of the pastor's alleged victims are young men from the church congregation.
He is accused of repeatedly drugging drivers and boda boda riders who have been running his errands over a period of two years. The protesters accuse the police of colluding with the pastor to obstruct justice and derail the case.
“We questioned the first victim, and he showed us hospital receipts and details of surgeries he underwent,” said Antony Mulai, one of the demonstrators. “Seeing that this has been happening for two years without police action, we decided to come out and demand the government address these issues.”
Jacquiline Jaycee added, “One report is at the Central Police Station, and Hon. Mike confirmed it was reported two years ago.”
Police are now hunting for the pastor, who fled as protesters stormed his church. However, Ruiru Sub-County Police Commander Maina Kibathi insists no formal complaints have been filed against him.
