Four robbery with violence suspects, a Kenyan national and three Ugandan nationals, have been arrested in various locations in Nairobi during a security operation conducted by police.
The suspects were identified by the detectives as Clinton
Wafula (Kenyan) and Ugandan nationals Sipholi Sam Wafula alias Sande, Ogomba
Alex and Mohammed Musa.
The arrests were made in Pumwani, Saika and Dandora estates on
Thursday, with police also recovering three firearms - two pistols and an AK47
rifle – with 50 rounds of ammunition.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI)’s Operation
Action Team in conjunction with their Intelligence Bureau counterparts,
launched a manhunt for the four suspects and nabbed them following a string of
armed robberies reported in the Nairobi and Western regions.
“Preliminary investigations have so far revealed that the
Ugandan trio arrived back in Kenya on 21st May 2025 through Malaba border,
having disappeared to the neighbouring country after committing a violent
robbery in Eastleigh. That has been the cat and mouse game in their bid to
cover their criminal tracks,” stated the DCI.
Sipholi was the first suspect to be nabbed, having stepped
into the police dragnet. Upon being interrogated, he led the officers to his
rented house within Saika where a Falcon Pistol loaded with eleven (11) rounds
of ammunition was discovered under a pillow.
The detectives then cornered and cuffed Ogomba, whom upon
being interrogated concurrently with Sipholi, led them to the third Ugandan
national, Musa who had been residing in Huruma Estate.
The sleuths later established that he was the owner of the
AK47 rifle, one of the weapons recovered in the security operation.
Githurai 45 resident Wafula was apprehended in Pumwani and is
said to have masterminded the string of violent robberies.
“Clinton was the master planner in all operations carried out
by the gang. On being searched, detectives recovered the second pistol, a
Palleberum Feg .9mm loaded with nine rounds was found tucked in his waist,” the
DCI added.
DCI further mentioned that the swift arrest of the four
thwarted a planned robbery on a business premise in 12th Street Eastleigh and
that the suspects’ accomplices have since been identified and are being
pursued.
