Three people have been reported missing in the Kapchebogel area of Baringo after their house was swept away by a landslide on Tuesday night.

In a police report filed under 'landslide incident' at the Kabartonjo Police station on Wednesday, three homes were reportedly swept away.

Two people have also been confirmed dead, with Saimo location Benson Amdany Sumukwo revealing that the incident occurred in the middle of the night.

According to the area chief, three men are reported missing, while four others have been rescued so far.

In one of the homes, three people were swept away: Zakayo Ruto, his wife Gladys Chepkangor, and their 13-year-old son.

Another Kapchebogel village resident, Samuel Chesaro, was rescued during the incident, as his house was swept away.

A third homestead, belonging to the late Isaac Kimuge, was also swept away.

It was not occupied at the time.

A search mission is ongoing in the affected area, even as the locals are urged to move to safer grounds to avert more loss of life.

Kapchebogel, Kapkombe and Kasisit areas are at high risk of more mudslides if the rains in the region continue.
