Migori County has reported three cases of cholera in Kuria West sub-county, Migori.

The county executive in the department of health Julius Nyerere said two of the people who contracted the diseases have been discharged after recovering, adding that one person is still receiving treatment in the hospital.

Nyerere said they suspect that the cholera cases have been imported from the neighboring country Tanzania.

He said the county diseases surveillance team has been dispatched to various parts of the county to deal with the possible spread of cholera.

Nyerere said they are coming up with proper measures to deal with spread of the diseases across the border of Kenya and Tanzania.

Meanwhile the   county executive in the department of health has appealed to the members of the public to maintain high sanitation standards so that they don’t contract the disease.

He said the members of the public must ensure that they take treated water and warm food as a preventive measure.

In the year 2023, eight people succumbed to cholera and over 50 recovered from cholera in Migori County.
