Three arrested as police recover Ksh.3.7M cocaine, heroin at the Coast
Three suspected drug traffickers were on
Tuesday arrested in Mombasa and Kilifi counties as police recovered cocaine and
heroin worth a combined street value of Ksh.3.7 million.
Two
of the suspects, Hussein Mansur Salim and Ali Swale, were arrested in Kisauni,
Mombasa.
Salim
was found in possession of 50 grams of cocaine worth Ksh.250,000 while Swale
was discovered with 1 kg of heroin, with a street value of Ksh.3 million.
The
third suspect, Harrison Mwenda Kiambi, was arrested in Mtwapa, Kilifi County
with 150 grams of heroin valued at Ksh.450,000.
The
operation was spearheaded by detectives from the DCI''s Anti-narcotic and
Transnational Organized Crime Units.
"In
a swoop conducted in the wee hours of May 7, 2024 by a combined team of
Anti-narcotic Unit (ANU) and Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU)
detectives, 50 grams of cocaine and 1.15kgs of heroin were recovered," the
DCI said in a statement.
Earlier on
Tuesday, seven suspects were arrested in
different parts of Lamu County in a police operation that culminated in the
confiscation of approximately 928 grams of cocaine, valued at Ksh.3.7 million.
