Suspected serial killer arraigned in Narok
The accused, Musa Ole Sopia, also known as Ololunga, is suspected of being involved in several killings in the Ololulunga area of Narok South Constituency.
The suspect refused to enter a plea when he appeared before Resident Magistrate Daniel Ngayo, who ordered a mental health evaluation to determine his fitness to stand trial.
Magistrate Ngayo ordered that the suspect be taken to a hospital for a mental evaluation and then remanded in Narok Prison until November 26, 2024, when he is scheduled to appear in court again.
Ole Sopia was arrested on October 30, 2024, at the Ololulunga shopping centre for the murder of a 55-year-old Congolese man.
His arrest came amid growing concern among Narok residents about an increase in murder cases reported in September and October.
The rising insecurity had sparked widespread unrest, with residents threatening to protest if authorities did not take decisive action.
In response, local security teams intensified patrols and investigations, leading to the arrest of several suspects, including Ole Sopia.
The ongoing case has drawn significant public attention, with residents hoping for swift justice to restore calm and security to the area.
