Suspected robber shot dead after car got stuck in mud during high-speed chase in Mwihoko

A suspected armed robber has been shot dead in the Mwihoko area of Kiambu county, with two of his accomplices cheating death by a whisker.

According to reports, police officers acting on intelligence pounced on three men who were planning a robbery on Tuesday.

The suspects defied a stop order and led police officers on a high-speed chase from Eastlands all the way to the Mwikoko area where the getaway vehicle reportedly got stuck in mud.

In the ensuing shootout, one suspect was shot dead, while two of his accomplices fled and were at large.

During the incident, officers recovered a pistol that was reportedly stolen from an OCS in Vihiga last December.

The OCS was left with serious injuries after the robbery incident, with the suspect making away with his gun which had 15 rounds of ammunition.

During the Tuesday incident, the recovered pistol contained only two rounds of ammunition, with officers now investigating if the gun has been linked to incidents of crime.
