Suspected drug dealer arrested, narcotics confiscated in Gem
A middle-aged man is being held at Yala police station in Gem after he was arrested for being in possession of assorted narcotics.
The man identified as Godfery Otieno Nyang’or was arrested
by officers who raided his home at Gamba village, Siaya County.
During the raid, the officers found him in possession of 4 litres
of chang'aa, two brooms of cannabis sativa, 360 rolls of bhang, 20 packets of
export cigarettes, 5 sachets of second general alcohol simba waragi, 8 packets
of solid beer Kuber, 500 pieces of rolling rizla, and 19 bottles of 500 ml of
petrol.
While confirming his arrest, Siaya County Police Commander Cleti
Kimaiyo stated that he is in police custody waiting to appear before Siaya law
court on Monday.
Elsewhere in Ugunja sub-county, officers from Ugunja police
station managed to confiscate 181 rolls of bhang and a motorcycle after the
owner escaped.
The items were recovered around the Savannah area by Ugunja
sub-county commander and his team while he was heading to Ugunja town from
Ambira and on reaching at Savannah area they intercepted a motorcycle carrying
a small metal box.
Kimaiyo says that the rider of the said motorcycle ran away
on seeing the police, before the officers opened the metal box only to find 181
rolls of bhang inside it.
He confirmed the incident, saying that the items were taken
to Ugunja police station where they were kept as exhibits as a search began to
arrest and prosecute the owner of the motorcycle.
