Police in Kisumu have arrested a suspect believed to be responsible for the weekend stabbing death of a GSU officer in the Manyatta slums, Kisumu Central sub-county.

A multi-agency team of investigators is also in hot pursuit of his accomplice, who is said to have gone into hiding following the heinous act.

The suspect, Ronald Liwind, also known as Ronny, was apprehended at his rural home in Asembo, Siaya County, where he had sought refuge after the incident.

Police recovered assorted crude weapons, including jungle uniforms. The suspect is currently being held at Kondele Police Station and will be charged with murder.

Authorities are also making efforts to arrest his suspected accomplice, identified as David Nyeuse, who is currently on the run.

The GSU officer, Calvince Omondi, who was based in West Pokot, had returned home as he was off duty. He was stabbed to death several times in Manyatta on Sunday night under unclear circumstances. Another man who was with him narrowly escaped death but sustained stab wounds from the attackers.
