Strong winds uproot tree in Bomet knocking down, killing 56-year-old woman

A 56-year-old woman has died in the Konoin area or Bomet county, resulting in the death of a 56-year-old woman.

According to Konoin Sub-County Police Chief David Kandie, the woman was killed when strong winds uprooted a Bluegum tree which fell on her, killing her on the spot.

Sadly, she could not be rescued as she succumbed to the impact of the falling tree.

The police chief explained that the severe storm caused numerous trees to collapse, obstructing vehicular access in several areas and resulting in power outages.

He warned residents against using flooded footpaths and bridges, particularly those crossing the Itare River.

The deceased's body was moved to the Kapkatet Hospital mortuary.

Additionally, recent heavy rains in Bomet have claimed the lives of two individuals who attempted to traverse swollen footpaths.

In one instance, the body of a middle-aged man who drowned in Chepkulo River two days ago remains missing.
