The gospel hit, “akisema atakubariki” is easy to the ear of both the young and the old irrespective of their religious persuasions. Released in 2002, the song played its way to the gospel music hall of fame. What many lovers of the song don’t know, however, is that its lyrics are inspired by real-life tribulations of its composer, Jemimah Thiong’o.
