Sonko to take legal action against Bolt Kenya over driver who exposed genitals to female client
Sonko, through Danstan Omari & Associates Advocates, notes that the driver committed a sexual offence against two female clients hence the company should take "swift action" against him, failure to which Bolt Kenya will also bear the consequences.
"As the former Governor of Nairobi County, our client has a duty of care to protect the citizens and residents of Nairobi County, especially the youth who are a marginalized group, which is the group in which the victims fall under in this unfortunate event. Furthermore, he has been entrusted to represent the victims in this matter because the Bolt company is a Multi-national company, a fact which may intimidate the innocent victims in this matter at hand."
"Therefore, we write to you to create awareness of the gross misconduct by one of your drivers and to prompt you to take swift action against the said driver failure to which will amount to your company entertaining the said sexual offences committed, which are in contravention of the Sexual Offences Act no. 3 of 2006," reads the demand letter, adding "We look forward to your swift response and action in relation to this matter."
In the distasteful incident captured in a now-viral video, the driver is seen unzipping his pants, indecently exposing himself to two female passengers while ferrying them, one seated in the front and the other in the back seat.
The passengers, two sisters aged 27 and 21 years, are heard demanding that the driver drop them off midway after they noticed he was performing the act.
Reports indicate that Bolt Kenya has already suspended the said driver.
