Rose Ochieng is the grand winner of Ksh1 Million in the Skiza Chapaa Promotion.

A jubilant Rose received her cheque at Citizen Offices as the promotion came to an end on June 4 midnight after running for 90 days.

She said the win couldn’t have come at a better time.

“I received a call from Skiza Na Citizen while at home in Siaya informing me that I was the lucky winner of Ksh1. Million,” said Rose.

She said she went through cocktail of feelings after receiving the news – as she was due to travel to see a patient in hospital.

“I was cautiously excited at first because I could not believe the news. It took time to sink in, but now I believe,” she said.

Adding that she decided to participate in the promotion after she saw Kenyans participating and winning on Citizen TV.

“I decided to try my luck, but also I wanted to help promote Kenyan artists with Skiza tunes on Skiza Na Citizen by downloading them,” she said.

Rose was accompanied by her daughter Olgah Okello to the Citizen Offices – where she collected her cheque.

She also met gospel artists Justina Syokau and Moji Short Baba who graced the grand event at our offices.

“I am very happy for my mother. She is a very honest and kind person. I am happy that God has rewarded her with this win,” said Olgah.

Rose said she will first tithe – then spend part of the money to revive complete a house project that had stalled.

“I will use part of the money to school fees and support our family. They have always stood with me, and so I say thank you,” said Rose.

She said she lost her job in 2022 following the effects of Covid-19 which forced her to relocate to the village in Siaya.

Speaking during the unveiling of the Skiza Chapaa Grand Winner -- Royal Media Services Group’s Projects Manager Muthoni Kiarie thanked all Skiza Na Citizen customers for downloading skiza tunes and walking this journey with Citizen.

“I would like to thank our artists for trusting Skiza Na Citizen with their assets. I am asking more artists to come on board,” said Muthoni.

“I would also like to thank our partners, Safaricom and Huawei for supporting us and working with us in this promotion,” she said – and thanked the entire Royal Media Management and Skiza Na Citizen production team for making the promotion a success.

Skiza Na Citizen launched Skiza Chapaa promotion on March 5, 2024. The promotion was aimed at delivering great value to Kenyan artists while enhancing customer experience.
