Siaya: 32-year-old man arrested for growing bhang

A 32-year-old man is being held at Siaya police station after he was arrested for cultivating bhang.

The man identified as Patrick Owino Ayieng’ was arrested after he was found to have allegedly cultivated bhang in Nyangera village within Nyadorera ‘A’ sub-location.

According to Siaya County Police Commander Mr. Cleti Kimaiyo, the suspect was arrested following an operation that the local National Government Administration officers conducted.

He stated that while acting on a tip-off, the officers invaded Owino’s farm in Nyangera village and found about 45 stems of fresh bhang.

Kimaiyo stated that in the event, they managed to arrest the suspect who is currently in police custody awaiting to be arraigned in court to face charges of cultivating an illegal plant.

The County Police boss who confirmed the arrest stated that the crackdown would continue to ensure they completely eradicate the illegal plant from the area.
