Police officers searching for survivors in
the Shakahola forest in Kilifi County have rescued one more person, bringing
the total number of people rescued to 90.
According
to Coast Regional Commissioner Rhoda Onyancha, having halted the
exhumation operation on Thursday in order to ease pressure on
the morgue, the total death toll still stands at 235.
Ms.
Onyancha further stated that one person was arrested on Friday, raising the
number of arrests to 32.
The
number of people still missing in the starvation cult led by controversial
preacher Paul Mackenzie still remains at 613.
Mackenzie
is accused of brainwashing his followers to starve themselves to death in order
to "meet Jesus."
He is still
in custody even though he denied the allegations against him during trial.
