Shabiki.com donates water storage tanks to communities in western Kenya

Thousands of students in the Western and Nyanza regions will benefit from improved access to clean water in schools, thanks to a significant donation of water tanks by Shabiki.com and the community. The initiative has facilitated the distribution of 10,000-litre water tanks to 18 primary and secondary schools in Kakamega, Bungoma, Siaya, and Busia counties, enhancing water storage and accessibility.
The handover
ceremony in Kakamega County was met with jubilant celebrations, as women from
Matungu danced to welcome Shabiki.com representatives. The event, hosted at St.
Maurice Mwira School, was graced by several dignitaries, including Dr. Jane
Makau, Chairperson of the Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB), Harriet
Chiggai, the President’s Advisor on Women’s Affairs, and Fred Afune, Director
of Shabiki.com. They underscored the importance of ensuring a clean and safe
learning environment for students, recognizing them as the future leaders of
the nation.
Shabiki.com’s
involvement in the initiative has been widely felt across Western Kenya, with
comedian Inspekta Mwala engaging with residents at every stop. His presence
added excitement to the occasion, further emphasizing the organization’s
commitment to social impact.
Since its launch
in January, the program has already benefited over 50 schools across the Rift
Valley, Western, and Nyanza regions. With ongoing expansion, Shabiki.com aims
to extend the initiative to all counties in Kenya, ensuring that every student
has access to clean and safe water for learning.
