Sarah Wairimu Cohen wants Ksh.500M from DCI

Sarah Wairimu Cohen is seeking Ksh. 500million from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Wairimu, the main suspect in the murder of her husband Tob Cohen, says the amount will cater for the damage and potential loss of her Kitisuru home.

She is accusing the DCI of ‘illegal seizure and detention of her property.’

If the application is accepted, the DCI will be required to give a full inventory of the property and measures taken to preserve its condition from the date of seizure to the the day of return.

Further, Wairimu wants DCI George Kinoti to appear in court in person to account for the seized property.

On Wednesday, Judge Lydia Achode said she has to hear both parties first and set January 15, 2020 as the hearing date.

Detectives cordoned off the Kitisuru home after they found Cohen’s body inside a septic tank within the compound.

From there, the widow got into a tussle with the DCI over limited access to the home which was now a crime scene.

She has previously made applications seeking access to the home to pick her clothes and car, which her lawyer maintains were never part of the murder case.

Investigators however objected to the application arguing that investigations were still ongoing and as such, she could not be allowed to access the home.
