Samburu elders resolve to curse youth engaging in criminal activities
This is after many incidences of attacks in which people have lost lives and property were recently reported in the region.
“11 people died and cattle stolen and only cattle are recovered. When the cows are recovered let the suspect be brought to book,” Mr Edga Leparashao said.
Mr Stephen Lentiiyo added that: “There are criminals who are coming from far areas. They are coming here to steal and kill people, people are not sleeping and as elders we are very angry, we want to live in peace in this year of 2022,”
The elders resorted to cursing youths from their community who are participating in criminal activities.
Mr Doglus Leboiyare said that parents whose children are engaging in crime will also be cursed and an action taken against them.
“The community will punish people from an area where the crime suspects are believed to be hiding. Youths will be summoned to disclose suspected criminals on before statruday when we will have a meeting,” he said.
The elders urged leaders, national and county government to join hands in ending insecurity in Samburu County.
“We are calling upon national government to restore NPR guns so that the community can work with police in beefing up security. We will be on frontline and we will work together,” Mr Paaye Long’onyo said.
