Ruto urges Kenyans to celebrate Christmas with moderation, maintain calm
This he said while attending a Christmas Service in Olpisiai, Narok County where he noted that families should protect their loved ones during the holidays and maintain the communal fabric of building the society.
"Knowing very well that the future of a strong nation is dependent on strong families and societies. Let us unite as Kenyans as we celebrate but let us also do all we plan to do in restraint to avoid accidents, to bring peace and God will bless us," said Ruto.
He further urged families to protect their youths, maintaining that they hold the blueprint for building a better nation and should be mentored and guided on the right path.
"For us to build a strong nation we must have a strong foundation for our children and strong families. As we celebrate this moment we must also remember to celebrate our children, our families and our nation," said Ruto.
This comes after Ruto shared his Christmas message to the nation on December 24, where he praised citizens whose hard work, determination, and dedication have played a key role in nation-building.
"There is evidence before us that the work of building a stronger, more united, secure and prosperous Kenya is underway," Ruto said in his opening remarks.
He went on to recognize health workers as guardians of the country's well-being, and whose work is the foundation of a healthier nation and future.
He also continued advocating for affordable housing as a gateway for economic growth.
"Every brick you lay takes our country forward towards a future of dignity, security and inclusive growth. In constructing these homes, we are building lasting hope for Kenyan families," he noted.
President Ruto reiterated his government's ambitious target to plant 15 billion trees by 2032, thus increasing the country's forest coverage to 30 percent.
