According to MP Mbui, President Ruto has realized he has weak political capital to secure a second term in 2027 due to incessant public clamor against his administration.
"He has gone on the campaign trail, he's two years before the election, I think he is in a panic mode because things are not as smooth as we thought they were," he told Citizen TV on Tuesday.
He added that President Ruto's statements while addressing the public continue to threaten his leadership, noting that he risks washing his leadership down the drain.
"Some of the comments the president is making are really irritating our people. He has to be very careful with the things he is saying in public because these are things that are annoying our people," Mbui noted.
MP Mbui defended the new coalition being assembled by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, terming it as the solution to rescue Kenya from its precipice.
"We are offering a solution to the problems Kenyans have been having. The president does not respect the constitution of Kenya and many of our solutions are in the constitution," he said.
"If we follow it to the latter alot of our problems would be sorted out, even this issue of the cost of running government."
The coalition comprises some of Kenya’s most influential political players—including former Cabinet Secretaries Fred Matiang’i, Mithika Linturi, and Justin Muturi, plus political juggernauts Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa, and Mukhisa Kituyi.
This has seen a recent meeting at Gachagua's Wamunyoro home in Nyeri County on Sunday, which sparked jitters on a possible political movement that will topple President Ruto from power.
Speaking at the meeting, MP Mbui urged Kenya Kwanza leaders to exercise restraint and stop maligning the former President.
Meanwhile, Gachagua is set to launch a new party on May 7.
