A section of leaders allied to President William Ruto has
cautioned Mt. Kenya region residents against following former Deputy President
Rigathi Gachagua.
Speaking at the Wamagana Stadium during an economic
empowerment forum, the leaders, led by National Assembly Majority Whip Sylvanus
Osoro, said that the government is keen on uniform development across the
country, dismissing claims that the region will face alienation.
"Leo nimekuja na hiyo message kabisa kwa watu wa Central.
Nina waomba, miaka mbili ambayo iko, tafadhali, let us embrace the government
of the day. Kura yako ni siri yako. And let me tell you, there is Kenya beyond
our area. We cannot be speaking from one area tukifikiria Kenya yote iko namna
hiyo. Apana,” said Osoro.
The leaders also rallied support for Deputy President
Kithure Kindiki, whom they termed a progressive leader who has unified the
country.
"We are very much aware vile watu wanafikiria, maana
ukimuuliza watu, wanafikiri huko Wamagana kutawaka moto, eti huko ndio wameenda
kusomea fulani, wameenda kunena na wengine. Sisi hatuna hiyo haja hata kidogo.
Kazi yetu ni kuwaelezea pahali tuko kwa sababu mlituchagua. We made promises to
you, na hii serikali ya Kenya Kwanza had a plan. Na ukisoma ile plan, hiyo ndio
tunaendeleza maneno yetu nayo,” Laikipia East MP Mwangi Kiunjuri noted.
