Rongo University VC calls for more sensitisation on new university funding model

The call comes at the backdrop of challenges facing the new funding model and the complains from the students. 

Citizen Digital established that a number of learners joining institutions like Rongo University are still having a problem in understanding how the new funding model works and how to access the funding too.

Rongo University Vice Chancellor Prof.Samwel Gudu stated that a number of learners joining the university are still having a problem in accessing the funds and also understanding the whole funding model.

Gudu said the university has established a desk to help the learners with problems related to the new university funding model.

He said the university is also planning to invite persons involved in the issuance of the university funds among others so that they can have a session with the students.

A number of students joining and even those who have joined the university have had the challenges in accessing the money given by the government.

One year after the introduction of the new funding model for the university students in the country, a number of stakeholders including learners are still not unable to comprehend how this funding model works.

This has forced a number of stakeholders in the education sector to use various modalities to make both learners and parents understand how the funding model works and how the learners can access the funding.

Last month, Uriri Member of Parliament Mark Nyamita invited a number of education stakeholders including officers from the university fund, students joining university among others just to make the learners and parents understand the funding model.
