Rongai woman stabs husband after he returned home at 1am, kills 2 children, attempts suicide

Police in Rongai, Kajiado County, are investigating an incident where a woman allegedly killed her two children, stabbed her husband three times before attempting suicide along Maasai Lodge road.

Christine Karimi, who is admitted at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), in critical condition is accused of stabbing the husband Rodgers Andere after an argument.

Neighbours say the couple has been having domestic issues.

The argument between Andere and Karimi turned tragic after the woman stabbed the man of the house three times, on the head and neck, after he arrived home past 1am on Thursday.

 Andere escaped death by whisker after he left the house bleeding and sought help from neighbours who rushed him to a nearby health facility.

Karimi, who remained behind, is said to have locked the doors before allegedly killing her two children; Amani Otieno (6) and Tyrel Agogo (2) by stabbing them. She then turned the knife on herself.

Namu Moraa, a witness, said; "Venye nimefika asubuhi tukaenda tukaona vile watoto wamefunikwa na blanket, damu imejaa kwa nyumba tukaona polisi wamejaa huko, mtu wa DCI akakuja akaangalia watoto wakachukuliwa na polisi.

The witness said the couple who have resided in the area for the last three years had occasional domestic spats.

“Venye majirani wanasema wamekuwa wakisumbuana mambo tu ya nyumbani ... Alikuwa anaonekana ni mtu mpole kwa maana anakuanga customer wangu...mimi huuza nguo, alikuwa ananipromote sasa sijui ni shetani gani aliingilia katikati,” stated Moraa.

Kajiado North Police Commander Hussein Gura said officers recovered the murder weapon and have launched an investigation.

"Tunahisi wananchi wanapokuwa na jambo kama hili la ugomvi wa kifamilia, wapate usaidizi wa counsellors au watu wa kanisa,” said Gura.

Andere and Karimi are admitted at KNH where they’re receiving treatment. The bodies of their deceased children are at the City Mortuary.
