Revealed: Starlet Wahu alleged killer John Matara began criminal activities at KU apartments
Revelations about murder suspect and
extortionist John Ong’oa Matara have continued to unfold days after his arrest
for the brutal murder of socialite Starlet Wahu last week.
An caretaker at some apartments near Kenyatta
University has unveiled Matara's year-long reign of criminal activities,
leading to his eviction in August last year.
“Tabia yake ilikuwa
ni hiyo...yaani alikuwa anabadilisha wasichana frequently,” said yje caretaker.
Matara, portraying himself as a Master's degree
student in fine arts at Kenyatta University, rarely left his residence,
persistently inviting women on a daily basis.
His disturbing pattern involved inviting
women over, subjecting them to heinous acts, and confining them for hours; some
victims were believed to be university students.
“The first incident
ilikuwa March...akaleta msichana ambaye alikuwa mwanafunzi alikuja kawaida kama
kumtembelea baadaye akamfungia mchana yote,” the caretaker went on.
In one incident, Matara trapped a student
inside his residence for an entire day after initially inviting her casually.
Another chilling episode involved Matara brandishing
a knife then proceeding to commit several extreme sexual violations, with the
victim narrowly escaping after she managed to contact her friends who informed
the police.
“Wakati nilimanage
kuingilia na nyuma nikaingia kwa hiyo nyumba nikatolea huyo msichana vitu zake
zilikuwa hapo na enyewe kisu ilikuwa hap…na msichana akasema kwamba alikuwa
raped,” he added.
August 2023 marked the end of Matara's stay
at the apartments, but his crimes only surfaced last week.
It has now been revealed that Matara was a
serial offender who worked in cohorts with other gang members to prey on
innocent ladies through dating apps, but would later assault and extort money
from his female victims.
Over 10 cases have so far been reported
across different police stations in the Nairobi region, with law enforcement still
in the process of compiling more.
