Orange Democartic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga is now accusing Deputy President William Ruto and his allies over the stoppage of the multi-billion shilling Arror and Kimwarer dams.

Odinga, who toured West Pokot County on Monday, said the two dams would have been completed by now and serving thousands of locals in the counties of West Pokot and Elgeyo Marakwet if it were not for the scandal surrounding the projects.

At the Kapenguria showground, Odinga met delegates from all the sub-counties of West Pokot who pledged to back his presidential bid.

Pokot South MP David Pkosing said, “We have resolved as follows, that we will support Raila Odinga as the next president of the republic of Kenya.”

From the delegates meeting, Odinga and his team stormed Kapenguria town bringing business to a standstill.

The former premier used the opportunity to tear into DP Ruto over the Arror and Kimwarer dams.

“Walifanya mpango ya kujenga Arror na Kimwarer dams…wakaiba pesa…serikali ilisema 21 billion imeibwa, alafu makamu wa rais anakuja anasema ilikuwa 7 billion pekee,” said Odinga.

Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, on his part, said: “Wamekula pesa ya Arror na Kimwarer hata mahindI…wamekula kila kitu, mwananchi amebaki maskini.”

Odinga’s tour of West Pokot saw him ink a partnership with the newly formed Kenya Union Party whose leaders are Governor John Lonyangapuo and Pokot South MP David Pkosing.

Odinga promised to deliver on healthcare as well as establish new industries to open the job market. He also rallied the region behind his social welfare fund.

The ODM chief’s allies accused DP Ruto as an absentee in government.
