The government has introduced "Project BETA," a digital reporting and monitoring tool aimed at assessing and monitoring the implementation of National Government development projects nationwide through the National Government Administration Officers system.

In a press release on November 23, Internal Security Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo stated that the monitoring tool incorporates Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities to evaluate delayed projects and provide feedback on implementation challenges.

Additionally, the system's dashboard will filter crime statistics, allowing instant retrieval of criminal activities in the last hour, 24 hours, 1 week, or 1 month.

While distributing region and county-specific tablets at the Kenya School of Government, Omollo said that the tool will ensure timely and credible information on government initiatives.

“The purpose of Project BETA is to capacitate our officers to better supervise, coordinate and oversee effective implementation of National Government policies, programs and projects with emphasis on the lowest administrative unit being the Sub-Location cascaded upwards to the Region level,” said Omollo.

Omollo further said that Regional and County Commissioners, acting as Chairpersons of the National Government Development Implementation Coordination and Management Committees, will use Project BETA to appraise ongoing projects, analyze budgetary allocations, and assess actual expenditures at different Regions and Counties.

According to the Internal Security PS, the tool aligns with the National Government Administrative Officers' mandate, enhancing their role as the government's first point of contact with the grassroots.

“This digital reporting capability and enhanced oversight capacity moves us faster to a more modern, functional, and efficient NGAOs that is highly responsive,” Omollo stated.

Among priority projects under the new digital reporting tool are Affordable Housing Scheme constructions, subsidized fertilizer distribution to registered farmers, the 15 billion tree campaign by the Ministry of Environment, and beneficiaries of the Inua Jamii Cash Safety-net program.

This development follows President William Ruto's recent announcement during a National Executive Pitstop Retreat in South C, where he revealed the Government's plan to launch a tracker to monitor every commitment made by the Government.

In attendance were Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries and other senior Government officials.
