President Ruto returns to rallies with new showers of promises

President William Ruto has in the last few days of traversing various parts of the country, gone back to familiar mode, making a litany of promises to Kenyans with abandon.

With the promises coming fast and furious from Nakuru, to Tharaka Nithi to the Coast, the issue of implementation is bound to be on most Kenyans' minds.

Last week when he visited Nakuru County, President Ruto promised a return of the Kazi Mtaani a flagship project of his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta.

When he travelled to Tharaka Nithi County for a marathon development tour, promises were made at his various stops in Maara, Chuka Igambang'ombe and Tharaka.

“Tharaka Nithi County tuko na projects mingi ya maji...milioni 180 tunaleta hapa kuhakikisha kuwa kuna maji Chogoria, Chuka, Kathwana na Marimanti,..tunataka dunia yenu isonge mbele,” he said.

After Tharaka Nithi on Thursday, the president flew all the way to Mombasa in readiness for a weekend-long tour of the Coast region.

Amid cheers from crowds that welcomed him in Mvita Constituency after the nomination of Ali Hassan Joho as Mining Cabinet Secretary, President Ruto promised hundreds of millions of shillings in a kitty for the fishermen of Mombasa.

“Nimewaletea hapo kesho shilingi milioni 800 ya wavuvi wa hapa pwani,” he said.

During the unveiling of the fish projects, the head of state promised yet again to tackle corruption.

“Sasa tutahakikisha wafisadi kesi zao haziendi miaka miwili itakuwa miezi sita,” he stated.

On Saturday, while in Kwale County his promises were centered mostly on cotton farming. He promised the coastal population of more funding for the cotton sector that at one time blossomed at the coast.

“Nyinyi watu wa kwale mnataka pesa mfukoni...sisi tuwapatie mbegu mzalishe pamba.. Badala ya kuagiza kutoka nje tuzalishe hapa nyumbani...mimi nitajenga ginnery 6 kenya,” said Ruto.

The President carries on with his tour of the Coast on Sunday in Taita Taveta.
