President William Ruto has officially opened the Africa Climate Summit (ACS) that will take place at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), from September 4 to September 6, 2023.

Day one of the summit has been branded ministerial day, where Head of States can have time to attend various side events and the show is run by ministers.

“You have entered the future, a future driven by global partnerships committed to African prosperity, inclusive growth and a livable planet for all of us. This is no ordinary summit,” Ruto said in his opening remarks.

The president is certain that the summit will help deliver African solutions to the COP28 climate summit that will be held in Dubai in November.

On her part, Environment, Climate Change and Forestry Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya said the three days of the summit will help Africa to think on ways to alleviate the crisis.

“The summit presents opportunities for Africa to develop given its opportunities and potential in solving challenges. We must contextualise our ability to adapt in as much as we have challenges,” Tuya said.
