President William Ruto said that he has embraced recommendations from the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO), tabled by the ruling Kenya Kwanza and opposition Azimio la Umoja coalitions.

“You’ve heard that those in charge of the Dialogue are done with that work, and we applaud them of finishing that task, now let us join hands and take Kenya forward,” Ruto stated.

Addressing congregants at the Priesthood Fellowship in Kahawa West, Roysambu Constituency on Sunday, President Ruto advocated for not just a 30% but a 50% reduction in government spending, urging leaders to live within their means for Kenya's progress.

“They have given recommendations all those recommendations are okay. Where they said we lessen Government spending by 50%, I have done that already. Those calling for lessening to be done by 30%, I suggest that they increase it to 50% for Kenya to move forward. We must learn to live within our means,” he added.

The Head of State further urged Members of Parliament to promptly deliberate on the committee's proposals, emphasizing a collective responsibility to move Kenya forward.

“All the other things that they have suggested, it is now up to you MPs to debate on the issue and get done with it so as to continue working together without hate and division,” said Ruto.

Applauding the committee's 4-month effort, President Ruto underscored the practicality of their recommendations.

The committee, through a joint statement on Saturday, November 25, highlighted the need to curtail travel budgets across government arms by 50% and recommended a 30% reduction in Daily Subsistence Allowances for State and Public Officers.

The move, according to the committee, is aimed at addressing the pressing issue of the all-time-high cost of living.

Another notable aspect of the committee's deliberations was the proposal to establish offices of the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Official Opposition.

These proposed positions, awaiting National Assembly approval, could see the appointment of Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and opposition leader Raila Odinga in the respective offices.
