Popular city pastor wants Uhuru to call for National Thanksgiving Day

Popular city pastor Godfrey Migwi wants President Uhuru Kenyatta to call for a National Thanksgiving Day following the end of the polical tension that had rocked the country prior to the now famous Kenyatta-Odinga handshake.

Migwi of the House of Hope Church says the peace and tranquility being witnessed currently should not be taken for granted.

Through his social media account, Pastor Migwi said the president should lead the country in thanksgiving as part of national healing.

“God realy needs a special thanksgiving day countrywide directed by the president himsel. It will be part of National healing and also remember that it’s a sin not to give thanks to the Lord if He has done great,” said Migwi.

“Remember just five months we were crying to God to give us peace, president directed all Kenyans to cry for the Lord because the country was burning , tribe’s were divided religious leaders were carried away by political wind, but after winning this battle through prayers and fasting no one seem to care about God, now it’s business as usual,” he added.

The Man of God further stated: “Please President Uhuru Kenyatta and deputy President William Samoei Ruto, direct all Kenyans to have special thanksgiving prayer day, remember this is not a one religion duty, it’s about God and God alone.”

Political temperatures in the country cooled down after President Kenyatta and Mr. Odinga held unity talks on March 9 and jointly vowed to lead a peace and unity process to bring the country together.

Last year in October, President Kenyatta declared Sunday, October 22, 2017 as a National Prayer Day following the nullification of the August 8th presidential election.

The head of state called for an extended period of prayer and reconciliation ahead of the October 26, 2017 repeat poll.
In his address, the president asked Kenyans to pray for each other and forgive one another saying that God has lifted this country before.

“Let us pray for all our leaders across the political divide. That they be granted wisdom, humility and that they may love peace and justice,” he said at the time
