Police officer killed as lorry rams into vehicles parked outside club

Three people, including a police officer, were on Saturday morning killed following a tragic accident involving a lorry and several parked vehicles along the Kisii-Migori Highway. 


According to a report obtained by Citizen Digital, at 4:30 am, the driver of the Isuzu lorry was heading towards Migori direction and upon reaching Choma Choma Lounge, a local entertainment joint, he lost control due to brake failure. 


Moments later, the lorry rammed into three vehicles and two motorcycles parked on the side of the road. 


Following the accident, three people died on the spot; officer Catherine Omusula from Nyanchwa Police Station, an unknown male pedestrian and the lorry driver. 


Two police officers, police constable Robert Irungu and Corporal Edward Akoko from Nyanchwa Police Station, and five residents also sustained injuries and were rushed to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital. 


At the same time, the deceased were transferred to the facility morgue at the same hospital pending post-mortem examination.
