Police launch manhunt after remandee escapes from hospital in Migori

Police in Migori are hunting a remandee who
escaped from their custody on Friday evening.
Migori County Police Commander Peter Kimani
said the remandee was together with other remandees and convicts and escaped
from the Migori Level Four Hospital where they were taken for treatment.
Mr. Kimani said the remandee, who is charged
with robbery with violence, jumped over the hospital fence and disappeared into
a nearby forest.
He said the remandee who was supposed to
appear before court on Monday complained of ill health and was taken to the facility
for treatment together with other remandees and convicts when he sneaked.
The police boss said officers have since heightened
the search around the forest and other places in Migori County in his pursuit.
