Police launch investigations into ‘Spy Queen’ Jane Mugo attack
According to the self-proclaimed Spy Queen, her car was blocked by armed men driving in two vehicles at the Ainabkoi- Kapsabet junction and beat her on the head and hands using a rungu.
Her driver, Kevin Okoth, and another passenger, Newton Manyana were also reportedly abducted in the incident.
Mugo says the attackers drove off in her car, a black Toyota Land Cruiser of registration plate KCN 222K after leaving her by the roadside.
Passers-by rescued her and took her to Kondoo Police Station to file a report, and afterwards to Burnt Forest County Hospital.
She was later transferred to Reale Hospital in Eldoret Town.
Police told The Star that Mugo “cannot exactly comprehend the incident since she is exhibiting signs of being in pain though appearing stable.”
According to Okoth and Manyana, in a report separately filed with the police later, they were carjacked by six armed men who fired twice, first in the air and the second at their vehicle.
They say they were blindfolded, beaten with sticks and then bundled up into one of the cars, where they were found dumped at Narasha Forest, Baringo County later into the night.
Okoth sustained a fracture on the right leg while Newton Manyana sustained injuries on his body, and both were taken to Torongo Health Centre.
“It is too early to ascertain the motive behind the incident,” Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Ayub Ali Gitonga told Nation.
“We have embarked on investigations, soon we will be able to unravel the events leading to the incident,” he added.
Mugo’s car was recovered on Friday in Mumias.
