Peter Kenneth rubbishes DP Ruto claims on State machinery misuse

Former Presidential candidate Peter Kenneth has watered down claims that state is using the criminal justice system to wage wars on politicians deemed anti-establishment.

Speaking at the Kirwara Catholic Church on Sunday where he was accompanied by legislators Nduati Ngugi (Gatanga) and Peter Kimari (Mathioya), Kenneth said the only way to avoid trouble with the law is by obeying it.

“The law is the law, we cannot say that people who have been involved in crime will not be arrested because there is politics, is there a time set aside for arrests?” He posed.

The latest comes just a day after Deputy President William Ruto claimed that several stage agencies among them the DCI, the EACC and the police were being used to wage wars on politicians affiliated with him.

“Since when did it become a crime to be friends with the Deputy President who is a friend of the President and supported him in four elections?” Ruto asked.

The DP expressed concern that politicians with alternative ideologies are being unfairly subjected to the criminal justice system with the aim of scaring them to submission.

He cited the recent arrests of Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi and MP Sylvanus Osoro among other leaders as outdated intimidation practices that have no room in the 21st century.
