Parts of Uhuru Highway, Lang'ata Road, Haile Sellasie Avenue to be closed on Sunday

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced that sections of Lang'ata Road, Uhuru Highway, Haile Sellasie Avenue, Bunyala Road and Lower Hill Road will be closed on Sunday, September 29, for the Grand Nairobi Bike Race. 

In a statement, KURA explained that the closure would begin from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm, urging motorists to plan accordingly.

"We urge motorists to use alternative routes and follow guide by traffic police and marshals. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the event," the statement read in part. 

Approximately 2,500 cyclists are expected to compete in the third edition of the event, bringing together competitors from Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Eritrea, France and also the United States of America. 

The event will feature six categories; 60 km main race, 2 km kid's race, 48 km para-cycling race, 12 km family fun ride, 48 km black mamba ride and 60 km team race for teams consisting of 6 riders.
