One person was killed dead and two others injured after being shot by goons in police uniform in Samia, Busia County.

The two; Isaiah Oduor and Stephen Ouma, were rushed to Busia County Referral Hospital.

They told Citizen Digital that unknown people in police uniform attacked them on Thursday at 8.30pm.

They were ordered to lie down and when they declined, the two allegedly shot them and fled on motorbikes.

The suspects are alleged to have been trailing the two victims before the attack.

Area residents said they are now living in fear and have urged genuine police to beef up security.

Evans Barasa (Agenga Nanguba Ward MCA)  condemned the incident and said security agencies must ensure that the culprits are brought to book.

This is the 5th incident in a spate of less than two weeks.

At least five people have been shot in previous incidents in Nambweka, Bugengi,Bumala, Matayos and Mulukhoni.

Elsewhere in Busia, a woman from Nambale has expressed fear over alleged threats from an accused linked to a rape case involving her 17-year-old daughter.

According to her, the accused was released on bail and has been threatening her family for pursuing the case in court.

She claimed that the man even got a gang of youths to march to her house several times and intimidate her.

She intimated that her husband left her to fend for her daughter and five sons following the rape case.

Nambale police chief Robert Ndambiri revealed that the accused is a notorious criminal who has several cases in court.

According to him, the accused has since fled to neighboring Uganda but police officers are hunting for him.
