A Nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) in Kisumu is among 10 suspects charged on Wednesday after they were arrested on Tuesday while taking part in the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya anti-government protests in the lake side city.

MCA Kennedy Ajwang, who also doubles up as the Nyanza Azimio coordinator, and other accused persons denied the two charges read out to them.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Dickson Onyango, the 10 were charged with obstructing traffic and planning to cause a felony.

Advocate Aggrey Mwamu who represented the accused persons asked the court to grant his clients cash bail.

However, the Chief Magistrate declined and released each of them on a Ksh.50,000 bond with a similar surety.

The case will come up for a mention on May 17 before the hearing slated for June 20, 2023.
