The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Cleophas Malala has expressed confidence in the longevity of President William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua's rule amid the heightening succession talks in the Mt Kenya region.

According to Malala, the Ruto-Gachagua duo will remain in office till 2032 since the ruling party strongly endorses their leadership.

Speaking on Wednesday, Malala dismissed the proposal to drop Gachagua and front Kiharu Member of Parliament (MP) Ndindi Nyoro as Ruto's running mate in the 2027 polls, saying that the nation's leadership is solely focused on realising the ambitious promises it made to Kenyans.

"That (Nyoro) is a strong member of UDA and he is a leader of the future but what we are asking for is patience we focus on our agenda. For now, Ruto and Gachagua is till 2032," he said on Radio Citizen.

"We have a lot of confidence in Ruto and also a lot of confidence in Gachagua and we don't want to see people disrespecting him. We have decided that we are concentrating on working. This is a man made of steel and we believe that his leadership together with the president."

The UDA Sec. Gen further blew Ruto's horn, noting that he has been successful in achieving some of his promises and he will have no threatening contender in the 2027 polls.

"When we finish implementing the promises in our manifesto, nobody will challenge William Ruto in 2027," he said.

"Let us allow the president time to actualize his manifesto that is why he is trying to create jobs for our youths. We know that the cost of living is tough but there is a government that cares for you."

The succession talks have been fronted in a few political quotas forcing President Ruto to break his silence and deflate the balooning clamor.

Speaking in Nakuru on Tuesday, Ruto condemned the succession talks while urging leaders to instead focus on fulfilling their promises to Kenyans.

“Let me ask all leaders that we focus our attention on the delivery of the assignment that was given to us by the people of Kenya,” noted Ruto.

“Especially leaders in Kenya Kwanza and UDA, I want to ask them to step down any contestations for whatever positions - present or future - so that we can work.”

On his part, DP Gachagua insisted that he would not be distracted by the substitution chorus.

“Let me say for the avoidance of doubt, I have only one focus as Gachagua, I am focused on one thing; assisting President William Ruto to succeed,” he stated last week.
