The families of Abigale Wanjiku and Joshua Njehia, whose tragic deaths shocked the Mwiki community, have finally received preliminary answers following autopsy reports conducted four days after their deaths. However, the revelations have only intensified public outrage and calls for accountability.

Renowned pathologist Dr. Richard Njoroge confirmed that Joshua, who was fatally shot during a confrontation in Mwiki, sustained a single gunshot wound that penetrated the right side of his skull and exited through the back of the head. The bullet, however, has not been recovered.

“We found just one gunshot injury that traversed the right side of the brain and skull before exiting at the back of the head,” said Dr. Njoroge. “We did not recover the bullet.”

Residents now accuse the government of shielding the perpetrator, believed to be a senior police officer. Joshua’s father, Samuel Njehia, voiced frustration over what he called a lack of progress in apprehending the suspect.

“The DCI told us they have the weapon that killed Joshua. But the officer who fired the shot is still free,” he said. “As a family, we want the killer arrested.”

Mwiki Ward Representative Sam Kago echoed the family’s concerns, claiming that the officer involved is known and affiliated with the Marurui Police Station.

“It was a senior officer—an OCS. We know the station and the identity of the officer. If he isn’t arrested soon, we’ll protest the way we always do—until he is behind bars,” Kago declared.

Human rights groups and legal representatives have condemned the killings, calling for swift and transparent investigations.

“We’re urging IPOA not to delay. The public is already agitated,” said Khalid Hussein of HAKI Africa.

A lawyer representing Joshua’s family added, “This young man will not be buried until those responsible are arrested and arraigned.”

Meanwhile, the autopsy findings for 24-year-old Abigale Wanjiku—a model whose brutal killing shocked the nation—revealed that she was raped before being strangled to death. She also suffered blunt force trauma to the head. No arrests have been made in connection to her murder.

DNA samples, including fingernail scrapings and vaginal swabs, have been collected from Wanjiku’s body for forensic analysis as investigations continue.
