'Nitaanguka na Ruto': Kalonzo says after being declared Azimio leader

The fallout in Azimio has deepened with a section of Azimio leaders declaring that Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka is their new leader after the ODM party opted to work with the government in a broad-based government of national unity.

Although ODM has distanced itself from the claims of joining the government, Kalonzo Musyoka, Jeremiah Kioni and Eugene Wamalwa say they have released ODM from the Azimio fold.

Wiper, DAP-K and Jubilee Party leaders toured Othaya Nyeri County Friday in what appeared to be an opposition jumpstart after ODM developed cold feet in the cold and had its top bigwigs join President William Ruto's cabinet.

Speaking just a day after Martha Karua's Narc Kenya bolted out of the Azimio coalition, the leaders declared Musyoka as their new leader.

“Sisi tumeamua kama Azimio kuwa tuachilie mzee Raila aende kule AU na sasa Kalonzo Musyoka ndiye kiongozi wetu,” said Wamalwa.

Kioni added, “Hiyo ndio msimamo wetu Kalonzo Musyoka atuongoze kwa hii safari ya kutetea wakenya.”

The Wiper leader insisted that he is not ready to join the government laughing off claims that he has been offered the position of Attorney General that is yet to be filled by President Ruto.

“Mimi nimekuwa vice president wa Kibaki hapa halafu mnasema nipatiwe nikuwe AG...hiyo ni kujishusha kiasi gani?” Posed Kalonzo.

Kitui Senator Enock Wambua on his part stated, “Kalonzo is not ready to join your government. Just make the remaining appointments and leave Kalonzo out.”

The Wiper leader said he is ready to take up the opposition role and keep in check President Ruto's newly found government of national unity.

“Ruto kuanzia leo ajue mimi nitaanguka naye...ikuwe wazi nitaanguka na Zakayo,” said Kalonzo.

The Azimio leaders further say the newly nominated cabinet has betrayed the wishes of protestors.
