Police in Kirinyaga are hunting down a gang that raided Kibirigwi Girls Secondary School in Ndia and killed a night guard before making away with the Deputy Principal's vehicle.

Confirming the incident, Kirinyaga County Commissioner Hussein Hallosow who visited the school with Kirinyaga Police Commander Andrew Naibei, said the thieves infiltrated the school compound through the back gate.

The county security boss said the robbers orchestrated the plan by tying the three night guards and the deputy principal before ransacking their offices where they stole an unknown amount of money and valuables.

"We have launched investigations but the guard died while being rushed to the hospital, we are telling the parents all is well and learning is going on," he said.

One of the watchmen, Michael Kimani said he escaped death narrowly.

"I was taken to the deputy principal's office where they tied me up and ran away with the vehicle and our phones, I'm shocked to hear that Nzioka Kiatu is no more," Kimani said.

Mr Hallosow confirmed that no arrest has been made yet and pointed out that a team of detectives is pursuing the gang.

The deceased's body was moved to Kerugoya Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
