National Assembly releases Cabinet Secretaries vetting schedule
The National Assembly has released a timeline schedule for the vetting of President William Ruto’s Cabinet nominees
that commences on Monday, October 17 through to Saturday, October 22.
In a notice issued by the
Clerk of the National Assembly Sarah Kioko on Wednesday, all the Cabinet
designates were allocated each a specific time and day when they are set to
appear before the Committee on Appointments.
“Pursuant
to provisions of Article 118 of the Constitution, Section 6(4) of the Public
Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act (No.33 of 2011) and Standing Order
45(3), the general public is hereby notified that the Committee on Appointments
shall conduct the approval hearings (vetting) of the persons nominated for
appointment as Cabinet Secretaries, Secretary to the Cabinet and Attorney
General,” read the
statement.
In the notice, the
candidates are required to present before the committee their original IDs,
academic and professional certificates, and letters of clearance and compliance from EACC, KRA, HELB,
DCI and CRB.
The announcement of the
vetting timelines follows Wednesday's appointment of a 15-member committee that
will be chaired by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetangula.
The
15 members include MPs Nelson Koech, Rahab Wachira Mukami, Dido Ali Raso,
George Gitonga Murugara, David Gikaria, Ferdinand Wanyonyi, Mary Emaase, Abdul
Rahim Dawood, Junet Mohamed, Caleb Amisi, Stephen Mule, Abdi Shurie, Naisula
