Nairobi businessman robbed Ksh.12 million while on a boda boda

A Nairobi-based businessman trading in Forex Bureau is counting his losses after he was accosted by unknown individuals who walked away with his bag containing 100,000 USD (Ksh.12.9 million).

The events unfolded at 12:53 pm when Hirsi Ali Shire sought to exchange the cash in his bag for Kenyan currency.

He boarded a motorbike heading to Westlands from his business premises at Kaunda Street in Nairobi's CBD.

Upon arrival at Westlands Paramount building, he exchanged the amount and boarded the same motorbike heading to the CBD.

However, an unforeseen turn of events occurred as upon reaching Utalii building along Uhuru Highway, a few metres from the roundabout, they were intercepted by a white saloon vehicle.

Two occupants alighted from the car and held the duo at gunpoint, threatening to pull the trigger if they did not cooperate.

One of the individuals snatched the bag from Shire and returned to the vehicle and thereafter fleeing from the scene.

"The reportee and the rider tried to give a chase to the vehicle but to no avail," read part of the police report obtained by Citizen Digital.

Moments later, the businessman reported the incident to Central Police Station, where the officers visited and documented the scene.

While reporting the incident, the businessman admitted that he failed to capture the registration number of the saloon car.

The officers have since launched investigations to track the saloon vehicle, retrieve the cash and nab the two suspects.
